what do you do for pictures?

I would like to know what seasoned notebookers do for pictures/illustration. Do you copy them and where do you copy them from where it is legal? Do you have the student draw them? What about timeline outlines that can fit in a notebook? Any ideas that you can think of will be helpful. Thanks.
